Once again, hundreds of marketers were in attendance at ISBA’s President's Lunch at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane on Tuesday 4 July.
Highlights of the event included The Resolution Foundation’s CEO Torsten Bell giving a candid speech on the UK economy and the impact on the political landscape.
ISBA President Margaret Jobling also took to the stage, reflecting on the changing role of marketers.
“If I think of my last 30 years in the industry I can honestly say the role of the CMO has changed beyond recognition.
CMO’s were once responsible for creative development, brand management and a bit of media planning. Today, in addition to all of the above they need to understand end to end customer experiences, data & analytics, mar tech stacks, digital marketing, measurement, finance, regulation and be able to speak the language of the boardroom.
And that’s before we get to sustainability, diversity and inclusion and the mental health of their teams.”
Margaret also discussed the continuing evolvement of ISBA’s cross-media measurement programme, Origin, which has now launched phase 4, the trial phase.
“It hasn’t been the easiest of roads to travel because it is complex and there are many voices to manage but we have made huge progress and we are well on the way to having a [cross media measurement] solution.”
