In response to the announcement of the Government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, Phil Smith, Director General, ISBA said:
"ISBA welcomes the Government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, in particular the stated aim of providing global leadership in fairly and effectively seizing the opportunities of AI.
In September 2023 ISBA & the IPA published joint industry principles for the responsible adoption of Generative AI in Creative Services. Since then, we’ve seen advertiser experimentation and adoption of Generative AI grow at a remarkable pace. We’ve worked with members, agencies and tech platforms to provide guidance and forums on the responsible adoption of the technology.
We are proud of the exceptional creativity and talent of the people in our industry. We continue to build on our history of innovation and cross industry collaboration to be leaders in how our industry adopts this technology to continue to innovate, while demonstrating to society that we can be trusted to innovate responsibly.
ISBA’s purpose is to create an advertising environment that is transparent, responsible and accountable; one that can be trusted by the public, by advertisers and by legislators. We will continue to work with our members, and across the industry to capitalise on the opportunities of Generative AI, while ensuring appropriate guardrails and principles are adopted to mitigate the various risks."
