Green claims and social responsibility - ASA presentation
Login to downloadAfter COP 26 and the declaration of the Climate Emergency, brands taking action on the environment has never been so important – and many have done so by supporting Ad Net Zero and AdGreen. But what are the rules for when you make green claims in your own campaigns?
2021 saw guidance on green/environmental claims issued both by the CMA and ASA/CAP. Now the ASA is embarking on a programme of work on specific issues, based on the national Climate Change Committee’s priority areas, including aviation, cars, waste, animal-based foods, and heating.
In this event we will be joined by representatives from both the ASA and CMA to talk about the existing rules, the upcoming workstreams, and how brands can expect to see these issues develop.

- Overview of the CMA’s Green Claims Code
- Overview of CAP’s guidance on misleading environmental claims and social responsibility
- A look at the ASA’s forthcoming programme of work, including issue-specific inquiries and planned research into consumer understanding of carbon neutral and net zero claims, as well as perceptions of hybrid claims in the electric vehicle market
